Transparence 2014: Pragati Maidan Metro TOD

Location: New Delhi, India
Status: Competition entry
Date: September, 2014 - October 2014

In 2012, a series of horrific crimes rocked the capital of New Delhi. The city had to be developed to reduce crime and solve crowd problems.  Rebuilding the city had to be done in a systematic manner, with certain local nodes acting as places of neighbourhood interaction and safety hubs while responding directly to the needs of areas in proximity. Transparence competition in 2014 was themed at transit oriented development to suggest implementable solutions around specific metro stations.

Pragati maidan is known for its industrial buildings especially by architects like Raj Rewal. Starting from the zoning to arrangement of interior walls, the design is chosen from possible permutations and combinations of spaces, by weighing them through a combination of several factors. The final structure is an icon of Indian industrial power conveyed through its systematically and mathematically designed facade.
