In an era when architecture has been trivialized by marketing / self-serving rhetorics / a rush to automate (BIM) / and a general repugnance to "supervise" construction, Harry remains insistently devoted to the value of craft. Understanding how something is made, why it's made that way, is more vital to contemporary architectural practice than ever before. Throughout his architectural education, Harry remained preoccupied with reconciling the polarity between the value of “making” in contradistinction to the conceit of “designing”. It is through a mastery of tectonics and material knowledge central to craft, where one can collapses the distance between the digital and physical, thought and act, design and building. A virtuosity over the vernacular and socio-political implications of craft is imperative to a sensible design processes that is culturally informed, technologically judicious, multi-sensorial, and always stirring delight.

Harry MX Wei received his BAS (Bachelors of Architectural Studies) from the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. He has previously worked in the offices of Herzog & de Meuron, MAD Architects, NL Architects and BIG. Harry is currently finishing his final year of M.Arch (Master of Architecture) program at Princeton University
