About

I am a recent graduate with my M.Arch Degree from Northeastern University.I have more than three years full-time professional working experience in ShenZhen before I enrolled in my M.Arch program. Having assisted multiple projects through conceptual design to construction inspection and working almost 80 hours per week, I gained a lot of design experience in terms of problem solving as well as a solid foundation of representational skills.

In graduate school, my design work was well recognized. My housing and aggregation studio design work “Suburban Life in Urban City” was nominated for the Nomination of RISE 2015 Category Humanities and Art. The project I designed during Comprehensive Design Studio in Spring 2015 was also published as the Signature Students’ Work by NEU School of Architecture. During the Master Research Studio, my independent research was selected to be presented at the “Architecture Advisory Council Meeting” of Northeastern University.

As a young professional, through different roles at my previous firm and working intensively for two years at graduate school, I polished my design and research skills both cooperatively and individually. To further develop my professional expertise, I have earned LEED AP BD+C credential right after graduation. My next step is to pass the ARE to get my professional license.

In my spare time, I have travelled extensively to see great architects’ work all over the world in order to better educate myself. There is a “200 projects Project” you can find on my website, that I built to encourage myself. During the past few years, I have been travelling to Sweden, Fenland, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Japan, and most major cities in the US. Right now, the number of cities I have visited has definitely exceeded 200. Apart from the design field, as the chairman of Tennis Association Foundation, we have successfully supported mu undergraduate school’s tennis team since 2010. I also was a volunteer three times as a Taichi instructor for Shenzhen Senior University. These experiences shape me into an open minded person with great interaction and communication skills.

Thank you for your kind consideration and please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I look forward to further discussing my qualifications with you in person or through the phone.

Best regards,
Fuyang Shan
