WonderK: "I don't really care about her views on marriage but I don't think someone who poses for topless photos is a very good role model for young girls."
<end scene>

...and I didn't watch the Olbermann bit on it either. Honestly I could care less.
I'm going somewhat down the same path as WonderK, but I'll say I don't really care if she poses topless, but I don't think someone with her apparent level of intellectual ability is a good role model for young girls.
I'm not defending her opinion and I could really care less about pageantry, but I think it's pretty absurd that a lot of people are getting riled up about a 5 second response from a beauty queen in a meaningless, outdated pageant regarding a very complex issue. Let her have her 15min. and move on...
Although she obviously has some amount of smarts - I know who she is, but I don't know who the actual Miss America is... she's keeping her name in the media and will likely land some magazines, endorsements, tv/movie roles, and who knows? maybe she's the next "face" of the GOP? - move over Sarah!!!
Opposes same-sex marriage, but also opposes a constitutional ban. Says he would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment. As stated on the Obama campaign Web site, he supports full civil unions that "give same-sex couples equal legal rights and privileges as married couples, including the right to assist their loved ones in times of emergency as well as equal health insurance, employment benefits, and property and adoption rights."
Joe Biden
Opposes same-sex marriage. Voted against a constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex marriage. Supports civil unions. Says he believes legal recognition should not be denied to same-sex couples. Advocates re-examining federal laws, including the tax code, to ensure national laws are not unfair to same-sex couples and that committed adults who are adopting are not discriminated against because of sexual orientation. Supports letting states determine how to recognize civil unions and define marriage.
what's your point FRaC? just because my President isn't for gay marriage, i have to bend to his beliefs? this is one area that he is wrong, and i'll say it over and over.
look at the crap people are saying about miss california (and please watch the olbermann bit for a good overview) and she has the same opinion as obama. where's the outrage and name-calling regarding obama's postition on gay marriage?
and for the record i voted 'no' on prop 8 and also voted against the california proposition back in 2000 that stated marriage was between a man and a women. i don't agree with carrie prejean but it's disgusting what people are saying about her.
i agree with frac. the overzealousness in the media is getting out of hand. besides her vote, she has 0 influence over policy. she just gave her opinion and stood by it. although i also disagree with her, i respect people who humbly stand by their principles.
This thread is pretty much dumb. But since it started in the spirit of men ogling women - which tradition Poczatek happily claims will never die - how 'bout if we change direction in kind?
Note: All images lifted right from previous Archinect threads, so hopefully no porn is showing up.
The Vince had Ms. Prejean (pre breast augmentation) and can personally say she is a dead fish. Marilyn Chambers on the other hand rocked the Vince's world for six solid hours. The Vince still has rug burn scars.
Liberty Bell, the Vince resembles the third picture you posted. I'm free Thursday evening, say around 9pm?
FRaC, what do i call it? politically expedient. i agree though, who cares about what she says, and i do think Perez Hilton is off base calling her a bitch. in her response to the question she first apologizes, and then lays out her "beliefs." now, having said that, her beliefs, like other conservative christians, are extraordinarily malleable, whenever it suits their failures. here's a >small< list:
Jimmy Swaggert
Jim Bakker
Ted Haggard
Catholic Priests [list is too long to be >small<]
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Rep. David Vittner
Bob Packwood
Bill O'Reilly
Larry Craig
Mark Foley
so while she might want to be some paragon of purity, she's a hypocrite and should be exposed as such, but not called a bitch. besides, hypocrite is worse.
Nobody posed topless, which is to say there are no nude photos of the women. But at least the libs spread those lies long and hard in an intellectually dishonest way in order to discredit her. As it turned out, anybody who supported those views is now discredited.
i love how america uses nudity as a political weapon. maybe the next revolution starts with removing clothes instead of gunshots...which reminds me of one of my fav archinect highlights, threadbare central
Here's her take on gay marriage, in conversation with James Dobson, uberchristian:
Dobson: Why did you give the answer you did with regard to the affirmation of marriage?
Prejean: . . . I felt as though Satan was trying to tempt me in asking me this question. And then God was in my head and in my heart saying, "Do not compromise this. You need to stand up for me and you need to share with all these people . . . you need to witness to them and you need to show that you're not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA.
OMG beauty queens for jesus. ladies, and gentlemen we now have the NEW Anita Bryant! Gay marriage will be the law throughout the nation sooner than we think.
For the record, fake boobs and bigotry are not my thing.

"stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own."
Carrie said:
"I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other ... same sex marriage or opposite marriage," then added, "I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman ... that's how I was raised."
She's not really a bigot. Not saying I'm a fan, either, but the lady's entitled to have her own opinion, as well as her own faith.
Prejean also attends Luv-em-Up Ministries in El Cajon, where she volunteers with members with developmental disabilities. Prejean is studying to become a special education teacher and also volunteers for Best Buddies, a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities, and for the Special Olympics.[3]

Carrie Prejean, Miss California
Now this is a pretty girl. Her body is flawless, great smile, struts like a superstar.....
Whoa, you're just looking to start a fight... I'm going to stand back and watch. For the record, fake boobs and bigotry are not my thing.
two thumbs up for fake boobs and bigotry.
My right-wing neo-con (god love him) cousin tried to bait me with this the other day. Our conversation went exactly like this:
~~~~~
WonderCousin: "What do you think of the dehumanization of Carrie Prejean as of late? I thought Olbermann's bit on it was pretty nasty.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xWdelybsXw&feature=related"
WonderK: "I don't really care about her views on marriage but I don't think someone who poses for topless photos is a very good role model for young girls."
awesome, WK -- well done!
boooooooooobies!
wait, you mean another anti-equal marriage bigot is a hypocrite?
I'm going somewhat down the same path as WonderK, but I'll say I don't really care if she poses topless, but I don't think someone with her apparent level of intellectual ability is a good role model for young girls.
she agrees with obama on this issue ..
and WK i would encourage you to watch the olbermann bit. especially the interview with michael musto starting around 1:40.
Pageants will never be outdated - there will always be men who want to look at (and have sex with) beautiful women....
but she is a great 'role' model for adolescent boys!
I was wondering....do you think she is related to Marilyn Chambers?
isn't she getting involved in politics? VP under Palin?
Trump's keeping her
yep she has the same equipment at Marilyn Chambers....and yes she was an "Ivory Snow Girl," before she grew up and sought a new direction in life.
Don't know if this helps, but the name "Prejean" actually means "before the jeans".
The Vince had Ms. Prejean (pre breast augmentation) and can personally say she is a dead fish. Marilyn Chambers on the other hand rocked the Vince's world for six solid hours. The Vince still has rug burn scars.
and saying "new direction" really fast sounds like two entirely different but somehow appropriate words.
Childish? Yes. But funny.
I feel that way about Perez Hilton too.
Satan was asking the question.
