there is bad attorneys and good attorneys,
there is bad doctors and good doctors,
there is bad architects and good architects
and bad designers and good designers....
remember olaf that HGTV has a staff that works with that particular "designer", that prepares the show with research etc.
I am laughing at myself regarding the "you might have a leak" if you don't hire an architect...how many licensed architects know how to do a flashing detail or at what temperatures waterproofing should be installed and at what temperatures the wp membranes may fail, and what fasteners not to use...and why should anything be galvanized? What's the proper mortar mix?
Oh wait you can look that up on the internet...just like everyone else...
I went to grad school to become a truck diver...ok I need a beer now....lmao
Poop tell me why? Why do you think owners require consultants often? Third party specialists...do you know that most contractors and cm's consider fully detailed and engineered drawings by architects to be merely conceptual! That's right you even spec'd the fastener and hilti epoxy and that shit is stil conceptual.
I know what you are, but what am I? No seriously, what do I call myself?

so yes, everybody can do it, but just because you can, does not mean you should be doing it!
