The project brief was to design an ADU over a one-car garage.

It is located on the northwestern edge of the property to respect the existing mature trees and allow ample daylight to penetrate the living space. A porous ribbon driveway provides access to the garage which is fitted with additional utilities, to act as a convertible workshop space.

Above, a thick kitchen wall divides the unit into the more private bedroom and bathroom side and a sun-lit living and dining space with access to a balcony. A stairway behind the kitchen leads to a storage/study loft above the bedroom.

The unit, with a prominent uniform profile, is in modernized accordance with the form and material of the neighboring context.
