  • They have been shortlisted among several works submitted from more than 50 countries.
  • “La Ascensión del Señor” Church will compete in the Completed Buildings Religion category whilst Cardiac Research & Rehabilitation Center will compete in the Future Projects Health category.

Madrid, 8th July 2014. Two projects developed by AGi architects, an international design firm led by architects Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea and Nasser Abulhasan, have been shortlisted by the World Architecture Festival to compete for WAF awards 2014 in their appropriate categories.

The selected projects are “La Ascensión del Señor” Church, located in Seville, Spain, a work led by Spanish architects Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea and Salvador Cejudo, and Cardiac Research & Rehabilitation Center, currently under construction in Kuwait.

“La Ascensión del Señor” Church, also finalist in 2014 Architizer A+ Awards – Religious Building category, will compete against four projects from Israel, Netherlands and Singapore for a WAF award in the Completed Buildings Religion category. On the other hand, Cardiac Research and Rehabilitation Center will compete in the Future Projects Health category against two other shortlisted projects from Singapore and China.

AGi architects, an international design firm based in Spain and Kuwait, will present their projects to a panel of WAF judges between the 1st and 2nd of October at the festival in Singapore for the third time. The winners of each category  are put forward to compete for the coveted World Building or Future Project of the Year award, presided over by the festival’s ‘super-jury’, with the presentation of the award being the culmination of WAF 2014.

“The whole team is very excited expecting that moment, but I will never tire of repeating that having reached this point already means a cause of great joy for all of us, and a professional recognition to our efforts and involvement towards an architecture committed to people and quality", said Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea, partner and co-founder of the firm.
