Built in the late 1800’s, the Featherbone Factory has long been the historic icon of the charming town of Three Oaks, Michigan. Housing attractions like antique stores, wine shops and the Acorn Theater, the Factory quickly emerged as an ideal home for a new local whiskey distillery and tasting room whose namesake is pays homage to the area’s nomadic past.
The historic building naturally became a backdrop to a very simple yet modern renovation incorporating multiple distillery functions including private tasting rooms, event space and the distilling production floor itself which houses distilling equipment fabricated in Germany. With he use of existing concrete and wood factory floors, salvaged materials from the area and refined millwork, the distillery design is an intriguing contrast between past and present.
