LEVENBETTS is an award winning New York City based architecture practice. The office was founded by David Leven and Stella Betts in 1997 and focuses on design at all scales including urban design, public architecture, houses and housing, commercial workspaces, exhibitions and furniture. The office employs a variety of methods to arrive at innovative solutions within the programs and sites of architecture. Central to our work is the idea of an architecture that engages its urban and or natural environment.

LEVENBETTS work has been recognized nationally and internationally through awards, exhibitions and publications. The office has won six New York City AIA awards, most notably for its urban design and housing proposal entitled PhX caseXcase: Cactus Flower Housing and for a parking garage project called Chicago Filter Parking which is part of a larger ongoing study that applies new sustainable transportation solutions and green planting systems to aging infrastructures. The office has recently been awarded a project for a 300,000 square foot Commercial Building in Harlem through the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

LEVENBETTS was selected by the Architectural League of New York for the 2009 Emerging Voices series, Architectural Record’s 2007 Design Vanguard and the 2003 Young Architects forum. Moreover, the office’s work has been exhibited internationally in New York, Berlin, Seoul, China, Washington, DC and at the Center for Architecture in Manhattan. A monograph on the first 10 years of the office’s work, called “Pattern Recognition” was published in 2009 by Princeton Architectural Press.
