Metcalfe Architecture & Design is an award-winning firm of 10 architects, artists, planners, designers, and museum professionals, unique in that we specialize in both architecture and visitor experience design. We focus on cultural and education institutions, residential and commercial buildings and interiors, and retail/restaurant design. 

Our services include architectural and engineering – design through construction administration, interior design and finishes, lighting design, landscape architecture, and ADA compliance. On the visitor experience side, we offer exhibit development and design, from master planning through post-opening services; graphic design; logo creation, identity, and branding; and way finding.

We apply our understanding of the visitor experience to the design of all public spaces – with the goal of reinforcing our clients’ mission and identity throughout a visit.  We are conscious of the elements that make successful social spaces. Light and physical comforts, a balance of privacy, and community, and opportunities for playfulness are important design components that contribute to the well-being and enjoyable experience of the end-users.
