As an architecture practice that is based in Los Angeles and Tijuana, our production is influenced by the hybridization of cultures that is a result of the trans-border urban dynamics that dominate the region.

Tijuana is a city that has never had a master-plan and in which most of the housing has been self built shantytowns on informal settlements. Contrasting with San Diego, where there is an excess of master-planned communities that define its sprawl.

Trying to have a real influence on the way in which the city is developed, and not wanting to wait for commissioned projects, we decided to become developers, involving ourselves in processes in which architects usually don't have any control over, we are involved in buying land, doing master-plans, design, construction and promoting of the projects we realize.

Our work has been focused on creating communities, in a city that has seen waves of violence destroy the sense of community AND CHALLENGING THE PRECONCIEVED IDEAS OF THE POWER OF ARCHITECTURE TO CHANGE A CITY..
