Studio Rede is a New York landscape practice working at the intersection of anthropogy, ecology, innovation and conservation. Australian landscape designer Julia Watson infuses her experience from the private sector and elite academia, to create innovative projects at various, but predominantly very large scales. Central to her emerging portfolio of work is a human-centered design approach that involves spiritual interpretation, cultural engagement and technological innovation. Studio Rede’s projects are embedded with a sensitive ecological approach that allows people to engage with environmental systems at various levels, including the physical and spiritual.
Julia teaches in the Urban Design program at Columbia University and the Landscape Architecture program at Rhode Island School of Design, having previously lectured at Harvard and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Julia graduated from Harvard in 2008 with the highest honor of the landscape architecture department as both the Charles Eliot and Olmsted Fellow. She conducts uniquely focused global studies on the ancient, living systems of local, indigenous communities.
