Andrei Zerebecky and Lukasz Kos cofounded FOUR O NINE in 2011. Zerebecky and Kos bring together a sensibility that explores the boundaries between the prosaic and poetic. In a very short period of time, Andrei and Lukasz have garnered substantial international attention. In 2011 they completed their first built projects in Shanghai, including a storefront for contemporary furniture that was nominated by Surface Asia as one of Shanghai's top retail spaces of 2012. Their first line of furniture products has been published extensively throughout Asia, including Surface Asia, Wallpaper Thailand, Perspective, and Dwell Asia. In 2012 the duo was awarded Perspective Magazine's 40 Under 40 Prize in product design.
Mid-2013 will mark the release of their PLEAT Series line of lounge and dining chairs globaly with Nienkamper.
Their architectural work has been recognized internationally by top art and design book publishers Taschen (Köln), Monacelli (New York), Gestalten (Berlin), Braun (Switzerland), Thames Hudson and Lawrence King (London). Some of the many international design and lifestyle magazines to have featured their architectural work in North America include, Architectural Record (New York), Citizen-K (Paris), Azure (Toronto), Luel (Seoul).
Zerebecky and Kos have been recognized on television programs "World's Most Extreme Homes" for the 4treehouse near Lake Muskoka, and "Opening Soon" for Trevor Kitchen and Bar in Toronto. Giorgio Armani selected Kos' 4treehouse as one of his 100 drops of joy for the Aqua Di Gioia promotional campaign in 2009. The work of Zerebecky and Kos has been exhibited in Canada, Germany, Singapore and Shanghai. Both are graduates, from the University of Toronto's faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design. Their studies took them to Los Angeles, Rome, Krakow and Amsterdam for advanced research in architecture and urbanism. After earning their Master of Architecture degrees they worked in the international architecture and design offices of Frank Gehry and Bruce Mau.
They lived at 409 Dovercourt Rd. in Toronto.
