Education

University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, US, Masters, Building Science

Building Science and technology studies at USC recognize that exemplary buildings are based on responses to the human condition and to natural forces, requiring good judgement and knowledge for the creative use of architectural technology.

Studies are centered around each student’s thesis and are supported by research seminars and electives from architecture, engineering and other related fields. Students are individually guided through their study and thesis by three faculty advisors. The faculty has academic, research and professional practice experience in architecture, civil and structural engineering, environmental control system design, and computer applications. Many papers based on thesis work have been co-authored by faculty and students have been published and/or presented at professional conferences.

The masters thesis submitted was titled "Green Roof Performance in Los Angeles, CA," and was also presented at the 26th international conference on Passive and Low Energy Architecture (PLEA2009) in Quebec.

University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, US, BArch, Architecture

The professional undergraduate program is designed to provide an exceptional university education as well as comprehensive preparation for entry into a competitive and challenging career. Studies in architecture and other basic disciplines are undertaken in parallel throughout the five-year program. Interested students may pursue dual undergraduate degrees or minors combining their interest in architecture with fields such as business, history, fine arts, and urban planning.

The curriculum has two levels of study. The first provides a foundation of understanding on which to build a second level of advanced study. Continuous through the ten semesters of the program runs the design studio in which projects are engaged as a means for developing the skills, knowledge, understanding, and judgment to create appropriate and exemplary architectural designs.
