Dallas Retrospect

RETROSPECT is an annual event organized by the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and hosted by NorthPark Center to introduce architecture to the community through three dimensional displays created by Dallas-area architects. The exhibition provides opportunities for public engagement and promotes interaction as a means of communicating each architect’s reflection of design and the built environment. Many imaginative visuals allow a glimpse of current trends in architecture not only in Dallas, but internationally, as many firms display their works from around the world. RETROSPECT is traditionally held in April of each year.

The intention of the installation was to engage to public at a larger scale. Using a simple A-frame structure, the piece displays on one side what the public knows Dallas to be. In hope of bringing the conversation of our field to the public, the opposite side of the structure displayed a 25 year projection of not what our city will be but yet what the city could become. Acting as a catalog of 20th and 21st century architectural ideas, the piece reinvisions how you will live, work, and play in Dallas 2040.
