900 Mahler Residential Tower

G&S Real Estate has commissioned Inbo Architects to design a spectacular masonry residential tower with large terraces on the Zuidas in Amsterdam,

New York style
The New York architecture of the first half of last century has inspired the design. The chic residential buildings in Manhattan have a clear structure: a public plinth on street level, a main volume and a crown at the top, with carefully composed and richly detailed brick facades. We have transformed these elements into a more contemporary design for the Amsterdam Zuidas.

The building has a similar structure with a plinth containing entrances, commercial functions and access to the parking garage. Above, the building splits in two towers that take advantage of daylight and views for maximum quality of living. Both towers respond with their scale and size to the character of the street they are located; the higher tower to the metropolitan Gustav Mahlerlaan and the lower tower to the quieter George Gershwinlaan.

Metropolitan living in Amsterdam
The glass elevators in the big tower offer the residents views of the city from the 9th floor up. On either side of the lifts in the high tower the facade steps back to make the volume appear as two slender towers. The vertical strips of bricks enhance the verticality of the towers. These masonry details give the building a more rough expression even though there is relatively much glass in the facade.Windows in all apartments are generous but get bigger towards the top. From the 14th floor up in the high tower and at the top floor of the low tower floor-to-ceiling windows give the apartments a ‘penthouse feeling.’

From their couch or bed, residents have a beautiful view of the city. Remarkable features for this type of residence are the large terraces. Almost all apartments on the highest floors have at least two large terraces at te sunny side of the building. Two exclusive two-storey penthouses crown the high tower.

127 residences
The building located at the Gustav Mahlerlaan has 22 floors, contains 127 houses and a commercial plinth of 1100 m2 on top of an underground car park. Syntrus Achmea Real Estate takes 80 residences with an option on another 30 residences. In top of the building 17 spectacular apartments for sale with an average size of 180 m2 with large terraces and city views.
