Padiglione Infanzia - Childhood Pavilion in Milan

The competition area for the new childhood pavillion is placed between two heavy existing buildings. In relation with the general park plan the new pavillion will arise along the outer limit slipping into a sort of pocket. This area it will turn in an important focus point for the whole park landscape.
The morphological choise of a volume with an accentuated pitched roof comes from the necessity of be erect in height in order to get a distinctive and autonomous character.
The visibility of the pavillion, its peculiar characters and its being solitary between the existing elements will turn it into a sensible point of the park landscape.
The entrance of the childhood pavillion take place by crossing a little square characterized by a big tree. This space is thought to be the place for the goodbye kisses, for the waiting parents conversation and for the childs play during the pavillion activity.
A wooden deck divide the entrance square with the yard game. This space belongs exclusively to the childs and is morphologically configured as extension of the interior central space.
The exterior space is also caracterized by a shelter that define the borders.
The childhood pavillion is articulated in two volumes, one contains the main functions and the other the service functions.
In the ground floor there is a succession three spaces for the childs activity. The central space become more important as pivot between the other spaces and the stairs system, it is distinct by a double height that establish a connection with the first floor and a space continuity with the exterior yard game.
A system of moving glass walls allows severals spaces configuration.
