A fourteen-foot-tall loft space for an advertising agency is conceived in vertical halves, with the upper part as meaningfully occupied and animated as the lower. A glass wall suspended from the ceiling divides the space into public and private zones without impeding movement through the space. Conference rooms and small phone-booths, the only full-height partitions in the space, undulate and jog as they rise past the 7-foot meridian line.
Suspended linear lighting demarcates the midpoint plane and evenly lights the volume from its center; by hanging the bi-directional fixtures low, their distribution is greatly improved and the quantity of fixtures needed to light the space was reduced by half.
