Description: The workshop will focus on developing design processes which uses parametric modeling and environmental analysis and fabrication techniques to drive design a responsive skin by analytical data. Workshop includes series of hands-on lectures and design studio.
    Objectives :

    • To demonstrate the ability to understand the processes of design to fabrication
    • To prepare a parametric model and rethink
    • traditional forms of ‘program’
    • To familiarize with the principles of building environmental design
    • To practice integration of building performance into architectural design process
    • To practice process of rapid prototyping

    Software :

    Materials : Varies
Equipment : Universal laser cutter (1), Makerbot 3D printer (2)
Project : Designing the building skin (facade) has been one of the most challenging design problems over centuries. Several solutions has been emerged over the time to address this issue, and with every advance in design technologies new solutions has been proposed. The students are encouraged to think of their solution for the problem, and to take workshop as a unique opportunity to rethink this well-known design problem by taking advantage of parametric modeling and environmental analysis.

    Deliverables :
    Parametric model of final design
    Study models in various scales
    Final project ⅓ , ⅕ or 1/10 scale prototypes
    Assessment :
Students will demonstrate their ability to

    • Develop the idea from design to fabrication
    • Establish the iterative design processes
    • Evaluate the environmental performance of design options
    • Communicate effectively using in a range of graphical media (2D, 3D drawings, video, website, etc)
