long beach museum of air and space
seductive technologies and the culture of collecting
so i'm bored (and avoiding working on my thesis), and i thought i'd post some images of my studio project from last quarter. my studio project from last quarter is the design of a museum of air and space in long beach. the site is pretty prominent, adjacent to the queen mary. the main concept for the museum is that it will have a "split personality." one "personality" will involve celebrating the technology that makes flight and space travel possible. the other "personality" will involve taking an ethical stand, and provoking people to think about these aircraft as basically weapons of destruction.

me doin' my thing, presenting to the jury
overall, it was a great review. the jury liked my project and they did point out things that needed to be better resolved (structure, circulation) but they understood that it was more of a charette project.
it was nice not to have to get up early for our seismic design in architecture class this morning (for some reason, we have president's day off today). went to a great bar last night, weiland's in little tokyo and knocked back a few pints of heff (well, maybe more than a few...). pretty cheap too...

sorry paul, that i haven't posted here in forever. things in studio are actually moving pretty slowly, which is a first for me in my studio career. i guess i'm just used to the more blistering pace that we had the previous school year. i'll post some pics of the stuff i'm working on right now in...
well, school started yesterday and since there's not much going on yet, (and because i lack a digital porfolio web page) i've decided to post some pictures of a few of my projects. residence in topanga canyon arc 301 fall 2003 instructor axel prichard-schmitzberger housing in highland park arc...
after reading some great blogs here, i'm really getting anxious to get back to school and into the studio... what's worse is that at the moment i'm feeling really uncreative, and i hope it's not something that will continue in the next week...
...is a beautiful city. i'm here for the next couple of days visiting my sister and i spent today just wandering around the city. i visited iit and the new student center's pretty cool. i'll try and post some pics when i can.
