Chicago Lakefront Kiosk competition proposal

The proposed project is based on the concept of a carousel. Carousel always
draws attention and concentrates the energetics of a park or a fair. In our project we
paid attention to connection of the proposed kiosk with the dynamic of the pedestrian
flows on some wide alley or square. The oval in shape plan is the most suitable for this
purpose. The external structure represents transformable shell that is made of
aluminum sheets and allows the kiosk to serve in a several modes and organize the
space 360 degrees around. The foldable modules of the external shell work
independently and are driven by electric motors. Using the fully opened mode the
kiosk resembles a carousel, and movable showcases can demonstrate a various
goods or services. So any visitor moving around will be able to find something
interesting for himself. As an additional option the kiosk offers a possibility to serve like
exhibition and information stand. The wooden internal structure can be used for the
installation of a posters, advertisement or screens. In the closed mode the kiosk will
still attract by sculptured surface of its facades.
