Gansevoort Street Quaker Meeting House

This project explores the idea of peacefulness in an urban jungle through group worship. The opportunity becomes present through the proposal of a Quaker Meeting House and Community Center, located in the middle of the Meatpacking District of New York City. It is accessible to all members of the public. The challenge is to bring a historic, predefined design methodology to a new generation of fellow worshipers in a way that is meaningful yet functional. The hope is to promote the growth of this community while providing the resources necessary to share their beliefs with society.

In addition to connecting with the inner-self and welcoming the community in a spiritual sense, this project attempts to assist in the integration of the indigent into society by providing the resources needed by the client to carry out their existing volunteering efforts in giving back to less fortunate.
