About

Hello, My name is Wil Vaughn, I have been in the architectural/engineering field for 18 years, first starting out in construction & after college moving into the different areas of design. I have a strong grasp on the inner workings of architectural planning & project procedures across many areas of the industry.

Currently I am looking to incorporate my skill set with a respected firm as an Illustration Artist & help move them into the future.

I am highly knowledgeable in AutoCAD & drafting in the areas of; commercial & residential architecture, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, also specialty trades such as, rainscreen walls, curtain wall, metal & glass canopies, concrete, point supported glass walls & canopies, skylights, metal panel systems, ornamental metals & sculpture, and aluminum & steel framing/structural design. For the past 3 years I have been incorporating Autodesk Inventor into some of my workflow & projects.

My programs of choice for 3D & rendering/Illustration are 3ds Max / V-ray, I find the combination of these 2 powerful programs unmatched. I am also versed in the following plug-ins for 3DsMax; Madcar, Multiscatter, Multitexture, Floor Generator, City Traffic & DreamScape.

Other 3D applications in which I have experience; DAZ 3D, e-on's Vue, & Autodesk Mudbox.

Post production of still images are usually completed in Photoshop with animations composited together in AfterEffects. I also use Premier to add & cut different sources of footage together for presentation materials. Knowledge of Microsoft office suite as well.

My abilities & experience are not limited to previously mentioned items, however they are mainly expertise relating to Architectural Illustrations & Animation as a whole.

Other abilities worth noting would be; character rigging & animation, VFX using these plug-in's; RayFire, FumeFX, Afterburn, & RealFlow, animated flight simulations including missile launch & impacts, explosions, burning flames & ignitions, fluid dynamic simulations (water, smoke, gas, fire, airborne particles)

CG School, On-line, Architectural Visualization

The Cg School is an on-line based video tutorial type learning environment. The subject of study ranges vastly across all types of computer generated art. My main focus was on Architectural Visualization and the various 3D packages and the many plug-ins that are available for those packages. Specifically 3Ds Max, V-ray, FumFX, Multi Scatter, Vue by Eon, Afterburn.
