Penn State Health - Pediatrics Center

We took a 46,000 S.F. former Toys-R-Us building, gutted it and tore off nearly the entire CMU facade, but adaptively reused the steel skeleton, the foundation, the concrete slab, and the majority of the existing roof.

Then framed up the exterior walls with cold formed framing and added a new facade using thermally broken kawneer storefront and curtainwall, and the Synergy system to adhere Trendstone Plus thin masonry veneer below and fiber cement cladding up above.

The Nichiha fiber cement panels in a combination pattern using two different panel types really brings the facade to life, and the custom blue panels at the corner draw in the character of the Penn State brand.

Thanks to Echelon Masonry's Dylan Manni for working with us to develop the 1 1/4" thin veneer Trendstone Plus groundface CMU for use with the synergy adhered masonry system.
