Introduction

This projects task was to design a new commercial mixed-used building at 401 E 1st St, Los Angles, CA. The area of the site is 36,346 sq.ft. or 0.8 acres of land. There was no height requirement for this site, however in the front of the site is a subway entrance that is currently being constructed. The structure also required a parking garage of 3 levels underground. 

Concept

The concept behind this building was to bring as much natural and outdoor spaces to this part of Los Angeles. For the exterior facade I choose plant walls, mixed with glass and wood to absorb noise, but also to add a mix of color. In the front a waterfall and vertical garden framing it, which interconnect each of the leves with small pools.
