CUSTOM LIGHTING

1. UNTITLED 2014 IS A LIGHT INSTALLATION FOR THE IESNYC 2014 STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION. THE THEME OF THE COMPETITION WAS A TACTILE EXPERIENCE. UNTITLED IS A VISUAL EXPERIENCE CREATED WITH YARN AND FLUORESCENT BLACK LIGHT. IT EXPLORES THE JUXTAPOSITION OF TOUCH BOTH VISUALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY. THIS EXPERIENCE IS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING LANGUAGE OF CONTRASTS:

  • THE COOLNESS OF THE BLACK FLUORESCENT LIGHTS AGAINST THE WARMTH OF THE YARN.
  • THE TENSION OF THE TAUT YARN AGAINST THE RELAXED GATHERING OF YARN AT THE BOTTOM.

2. REFLECTIONS IS A BRASS PENDANT 6" X 11" LIGHT FIXTURE EXPLORING THE MOTION OF REFLECTIONS THROUGH ANGLES OF REFRACTION. THE LAMP IS CONSTRUCTED FROM A 3" DIAMETER BRASS TUBE AND A GOLD FOIL LINED BOWL.
