The client wishes a new design of the 214 hectare park the Krabbeplas at Vlaardingen,
which the integration of a new highway (Blankenburgtunnel) is included. The
recreational possibilities must be increased, so that the area attract visitors from the
entire region. The redevelopment of the Krabbeplas will also have a positive impact on
the adjacent residential area: Westwijk.
In order to make a new design for the park and solve several problems
in the area, the design is divided in three themes: cultural and
historical landscape, recreational landscape and urban environment.
These three themes are a result from thorough investigation and
handled according to a layered approach.
This redevelopment plan the Krabbeplas is future-oriented. An
unique project to transform a scenic countryside to an urban
park.
