PH Honduras

PH Honduras is a renovation and extension of a 12m x 7m single-family house, located in the center of a block in the Palermo neighborhood, in the city of Buenos Aires. This is one of the 27 housing units that make up a condominium complex built between the beginning and middle of the last century.

The project reconfigures the private area on the ground floor and the public area on the upper floor. These two areas are articulated by a hall/living room and a staircase that, located inside one of the old rooms, begins the vertical promenade.  On the ground floor, the original central main room is maintained and two rooms, the original bathroom and the kitchen are intervened to create a total of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a staircase-library and a storage room. The old dry central patio of the house becomes an illuminated and semi-open space.

The kitchen-dining room and a living room are located on the upper floor at different heights. Through a large window, the living room is linked to the three terraces located on the roofs of the original home.

The addition is constructed in a lightweight construction system and differs materially from the original construction. On the outside, the white sheet metal contrasts with the Paris stone plaster. Inside, the white and gray tones of walls and floors in all rooms and the use of the same wood for the furniture materially unify the spaces.
