Alejandro Aravena (1967), architect of the Universidad Católica de Chile, established Alejandro Aravena Architects in 1994. He was Visiting Professor at Harvard GSD (2000-2005) and and has been named International Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He is currently member of the Pritzker Prize Jury.

He has received Awards such as the Erich Schelling Architecture Medal in 2006 (Germany), the Silver Lion at the XI Venice Biennale, the Marcus Prize in 2010 and the Avonni Prize for "Innovator of the Year".
Among his Books are Los Hechos de la Arquitectura, El Lugar de la Arquitectura and Material de Arquitectura, as well as, Alejandro Aravena: The Forces in Architecture by the Japanese publishing house Toto and ELEMENTAL. Incremental Housing and Participatory Design Manual, published in 2012 by the German house Hatje Cantz.
Publications on his work include the monograph Alejandro Aravena, Progettare e Costruire by Electa, Kenneth Frampton’s 4th edition of Modern Architecture; A Critical History, Thames & Hudson’s 60 Innovators Shaping Our Creative Future and books by Phaidon and Taschen. Along with magazines such as GA (Japan), Icon, Monocle and Architectural Review (UK), Casabella, Lotus, Abitare, The Plan and Domus (Italy), Arquitectura Viva (Spain), Detail and Arch+ (Germany), Mark and Volume (Netherlands), Architectural Record, Dwell, Praxis and Perspecta (United States) and others in more than 30 countries.
His Lectures have been held in places like The London School of Economics and RIBA in the UK, Americas Society in New York, the InterAmerican Development Bank in Washington, Experimenta Design in Portugal and Design Indaba in South Africa, among others. He recently took part in the 4th Holcim Forum at Mumbai, India (2013).
Exhibitions on his work have been held, for example, at Harvard GSD (2004), Sao Paulo Biennale (2007), Milan Triennale (2008), MoMA (2010) and Venice Biennale (2008 and 2012). In 2011 he featured in MA Gallery in Tokyo and the Whitney Museum in New York.
Since 2006 he's Executive Director of ELEMENTAL S.A., a for profit company with social interest that works in projects of infrastructure, transportation, public space and housing, as a partner of Universidad Católica de Chile and COPEC Chilean Oil Company.
