My name is Zhenjia Wang. In May this year, I have received a Master degree in architecture from Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Michigan.
During my years at the undergraduate school in China, I secured an architect Internship with SCUT Arch Design-Research Institute of my senior year for five months, and after graduated from the undergraduate school, I also have half-year experience of professional practice in Gegenwärtig Architektur Design GmbH, as an assistant architect. Through this experience, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of project plans and design, coupled with the ability to manage the associated documentation, learned the skills of how to communicate with clients, contractors, and participated in different kinds of projects, including public buildings (library), private house and interior design. In my senior year of the undergraduate school, I led a team and gained an award (3rd prize) of the Chinese national college competition where I received first-hand experience in organization, teamwork, and responsibility. During my graduate school years, luckily enough, I was introduced to taubman externship program and gained the chances to work with Works Partnership Architecture, Portland, taking part in all kinds of their meeting, which teaches me more about how an architectural firm runs in U.S.A. Besides, as I have excellent skill on rendering, I earned several rendering part-time jobs from the alumni of Taubman College.
