Mr. Futterer is a designer, artist, and linguaphile who uses various tools of visualization, communication, and fabrication to create work and form dialogue. He currently practices as an architectural designer at AECOM, focused on transportation systems and public space enhancement. Working with Brooklyn Public Library, he also leads a weekly English conversation group for non-native speakers, as a certified TEFL instructor. He has spent 2 years living in the area of Paris, France, where he learned French, studied and worked in the fields of architecture and urbanism, and traveled to 14 different countries. In 2014, Mr. Futterer participated in the design and construction of Techstyle Haus, a net-zero passive solar house which was exhibited in Versailles and now currently resides at the Domaine de Boisbuchet in Poitou-Charentes. He is a native English speaker, fully fluent in French, familiar with German, and eager to learn Spanish! Mr. Futterer is currently based in Brooklyn and is always looking for new opportunities to collaborate with other creative minds using the media of design, art, and language.

Core member of AECOM design team working jointly with design subconsultant to prepare a 30% design-build drawing set to renovate 90,000 sf of the existing LIRR Concourse at Penn Station. Documented existing conditions and interpreted point cloud data using BIM and Autodesk Recap. Developed renderings, drawings, and diagrams of station layout for Concept Design Report, using Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Created programming plan layouts for design and costing evaluation. Coordinated ceiling and wall design with lighting consultant and MEPS team. Generated industrial design drawings for electronic screen enclosures and custom furniture.

Architectural team member during preparation of competition proposal for a 650,000 square-foot courthouse in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, with a 160-meter tower and adjacent public plaza. Analyzed program flow chart during pre-schematic design. Constructed large-scale site model of proposed courthouse and surrounding neighborhood. Generated presentation sheets with rendered plans and sections using AutoCAD and Photoshop. Team included an associate architect, project manager, 2 architects, and 2 interns.

Participated in team charrettes to integrate an energy positive systems design and a Passive House approach to core and shell and to orientation.
