My name is Xinyi Wang. Originally from Beijing, China, I moved to Perth, Australia in 2008 and then enrolled myself at the University of Western Australia, undertaking a 5-year study of architecture. I've recently graduated from Master of Architecture (coursework) in March 2015. During my study, I've been on exchange to Politecnico di Milano, Zhejiang University and China Academy of Arts (where Pritzker Prize winner Wang Shu teaches) in summer studios in 2013 and 2014 respectively. I'm also experienced in hand drawing, sketching, model making, furniture design and making, graphic design and typography.
I've participated in some architectural competitions in Perth ,Australia in 2014 and become the winner of a biochemical faculty building competition at Fuzhou University, Fujian, Fuzhou in 2014. The building has been approved by the local council and is to be built in 2015.
Apart from architecture I'm very interested in reading and especially writing, in both English and Chinese now. I've won a 1st prize in one of a national writing competitions in 2008 before I moved to Australia when I was 17
My professional work experience includes working at Majestic Stairs from August 2012 to April 2013 in Perth as a part time drafter, as well as an internship from June to July 2013 at Vamed Healthcare Co. Ltd. Beijing, China. I've gained documentation, technical coordination, project management, interpretation and translation and architectural design experience.
As for relaxation, I play basketball; do fitness and freestyle dance. I enjoy travelling and would like to explore the world while becoming an architect.

I was on a team of two, with my friend, while participated in the invited competition by Fuzhou University. I was in charge of the design, presentation and documentation while my friend focus on client liaison. The design spanned from October 2013 to mid 2014, with the site changing twice and all together 4 proposals by my friend and I.
The building has been approved by the local council and is to be built in 2015.
