RENEWAL DESIGN OF YANZIJI

YANZIJI OLD TOWN, NANJING, CHINA TP STUDIO, PROJECT ASSOCIATE

My role: planning concept, master plan, commercial area design

Yanziji old town used to hold the collective memories of 1950s to 1980s of Nanjing. Currently it is suffering from decaying buildings and unable to keep up with the development pace of tourism. The government has decided to demolish all buildings on site and rebuild a new town which can refresh the collective memories and intrigue social self-recognition in the context of Chinese culture.

As the core area of the site, the commercial area in the center is aimed at providing people with a good vision of natural landscape and a continuous tour path through a sunken plaza.
