ARCO (cc) is a cultural company located in a former house from the 1930s. The project merges art, design, and architecture to create a collaborative space that houses the architecture firm WORC and the furniture design studio VETA.

The project is situated in San Miguel Chapultepec, a neighborhood rich in history, composed of residences that have survived the test of time, in Mexico City. Attention is drawn to buildings imbued with stories and character, imparting an artistic value to the surroundings. Here, architecture embraces history, blending the past with the present.

The idea of revitalizing this residence into a multicultural space, with suitable environments for the production, exhibition, and interaction of visual arts, design, architecture, and entertainment, was born from a chance meeting among friends and family.

The rescue of this architectural gem involved the sensitivity to appreciate and solidify the details that give character to the dwelling. Signs of wear and deterioration from the past were reflected in ceramic floors and paint that had lost their luster. The cedar carpentry displays ancient memories and preserves an aroma that evokes the past.

The proposal for intervention and recovery focused on restoring authenticity to each stroke and restoring the original elements, creating a symphony of past and present where the fusion of architectural history, green spaces, and fine materials compose the project. Livable quality, an essential premise, is reflected in every corner, where time and design converge in authenticity.

A general criterion was established where each stroke, arch, and window are part of a visual narrative that traverses the house with an elegant horizontal line. Where arches did not exist, the walls tell their own story, establishing a clear language between memory and the present.

The kitchen was transformed into a space where modern amenities flow, sensitively adapted to the antique aesthetics. Lighting was deployed within the original moldings, preserving their mystery and adding value to the transformative character of the space. The walls, with their marks of time, recount their story in every imperfection.

The final result is a composition of continuity and authenticity. Every corner pays homage to history: doors and windows have been meticulously restored, becoming protagonists of the Project.

The original purpose of turning the house into a habitable space took on a life of its own. It became a creation where furniture and architecture interweave stories.

The restoration of the facade was carried out meticulously. The color palette stands out while integrating with the urban environment. The ironworks, cleaned and delicately restored, revealed their original beauty.

On the ground floor, there is a livable showroom that displays the collaborative work of the offices, consisting of a dining room, a bedroom, and a courtyard with a fountain. The next level houses the offices, witnesses to a fruitful collaboration. Finally, the second floor becomes a setting for gatherings, culminating in the terrace, a multipurpose space that offers a green corner in the city.

ARCO (cc) stands as a beacon of creativity and design, where time blurs and the boundaries between the past and the present fade away.
