Woodbury School of Architecture student, Khan Muhammad, has been awarded the 2020 Jean Roth Driskel Scholarship by AIA Pasadena & Foothill (AIAPF). The scholarship was established in 1971 to honor Jean Roth Driskel, the first female President of the AIAPF Chapter and the third woman to be elected to the AIA College of Fellows. The scholarships are awarded annually to two architectural students: one a Community College student and one a University student, in recognition of their dedication, enthusiasm, and ability in the field of architecture.

“Currently, I am seeking a May 2021 – Aug 2022 internship to fulfill my IPAL program requirements – which helps students obtain the architectural license after graduation,” said Khan in a recent statement. “I desire to elevate and empower my community as they have done with me. The JRD scholarship has enabled me to continue and extend my service to my community at large through these hard times.”

Reflecting on Khan’s character and passions, Dean Wahlroos-Ritter said: “Khan is an activist, designer, leader, and fierce defender of the rights of underrepresented groups. He has a passion to make our profession more equitable and more just, and is well-deserving of this honor. He has served the Woodbury community for many years as President of our NOMAS Chapter. This recognition underscores his many accomplishments.”
