HELLO,
I am an architect who is passionate about exploring the political and ethical dimensions of space, and how architecture can serve the greater good. My name is Wolfgang Fischer, and I am excited to share my portfolio with you.
My journey in architecture began with my studies in Erfurt (in cooperation with Parsons New School of Design NY), Berlin, and Vienna, culminating in a master’s degree with distinction from the Vienna University of Technology in 2019. My thesis titled “Assembly” reflects my conviction of the responsibility of architects and the power of space in our society. I spent several months in Israel and Palestine, where I formulated an alternative approach to parliament structures. The work represents a political/architectural manifesto that criticizes parliamentary and state architecture as part of the worldwide problem of democracies in crisis.
For more than a decade, I have been employed at the renowned Franz & Sue Architects in Vienna, having worked there both during and after my studies. I have participated in various national and international competitions and projects, playing a crucial role in preliminary and design stages, building permission, executional planning, and leading projects. My passion for architecture extends beyond traditional practice. The particular focus of my role is idea and concept development in competition design, 3D modeling, visualization and graphic design. I have also integrated the concept of storytelling through animated content, as I consider this format to be a perfect opportunity to present the many great ideas within architecture to a user community untrained in reading plans. Additionally, I have worked as a motion graphic designer, where I have created animations and explanation videos for educational purposes and a permanent exhibition. I have also been involved in investigative video analysis.
With experience in working independently as project lead as well as collaborating within a team of up to 15 people, I would describe myself as a person who is characterized by a high level of sensitivity, strong empathy, high adaptability and humor. I enjoy working multidisciplinary on complex projects and see it as an essential requirement to engage with the use of new technologies and specialists from all sorts of fields. I am confident that my experience and expertise will be an asset to any team I work with. Please feel free to explore my portfolio and contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss potential collaborations.
