Pratt Graduate Residence

The project assigned to the studio specifically was a dormitory for graduate students. Graduate students compared to undergraduate students are more likely to be married or disfavor to be in a unit with more than two people. With this in mind, the units were designed based as two bedrooms, along with the necessary amenities that a graduate student would need in their unit and the architecture itself.

The design was to create equality to each units while maintaining efficient sustainability. However given the circumstances, the unit and the facade on the south and east side were designed differently to achieve maximum efficiency. However given the task as a designer we provided its own uniqueness by utilizing the condition as a corner lot. A dividing visual feature provides the architecture with dual characteristic strong enough to create different impressions depending on where one stands.
