The Bel-Val High School:
The high school is located in what will be the large landscape park of the site of
Esch-Belval. With a total area of 40,000 m², the school accommodates up to 1,500
students. It is integrated in the project of the reconversion of the iron and steel waste
lands in Belval which will become an important European Centre of activities.

Our graphic intervention was developed to provide an unconventional signage to a population of student's from many nations.
We developed a color code to identify specific sections of the building.
Within this color code, we presented international personalities and selected quotations to express and identify the various disciplines.
The portraits are defined by bitmap black and white pixels only. When one approaches, these black and white images become a complete abstraction, once at a distance, the image is rendered as a photographic image.
The adjacent colored illustrations, coupled with the personality's quotation, enriches the pedagogical message for the students.
