A soaring glass and wood paneled multi-use space punctuates the horizontally oriented three-story classroom block of this new elementary school for UNO. The signature space reflects the organization’s community-based vision for inspiring achievement in the city’s Hispanic community. Common spaces are concentrated on the ground floor to facilitate use by neighborhood organizations during off-class hours. Eighteen classrooms and associated educational spaces accommodate 600 students on the upper floors.
Wood panels provide sun screening on the south façade, reflecting the building’s sustainable features that achieved LEED Silver certification.
