Upon approach, the two-story entry façade of this home has a brow that behaves like a baseball cap, providing protection from the busy arterial above. Entering from the private lane below, a welcoming entry bench and gate conceal a cloistered garden that surrounds a transparent entry pavilion. This leads to the literal spine of the house, an axis that parallels the shared property line where zoning setbacks maintain a protected view corridor to Lake Washington.

Designed for waterfront entertaining, the indoor/outdoor connections have been maximized with large sliding glass doors opening to cantilevered decks, a stair from the south deck leading to the dock and a ground level recreation room with an adjacent water feature reflecting the lake.  Indelibly, this lakefront residence is rooted in its location.
