The concept of the project comes from looking into the penguins movements within its habitat rather than the mere composition of the habitat. Creating an abstract architecture based on the animal’s movements
On land, their movements are constrained, whereas underwater, they are unbounded. Manifesting these two forms into a structured grid and an organic form.
After an iterative process, the final study blurs the duality. Merging a straightedge to an organic form, creating moments of undulating surfaces.
The project maintains the formal language of the cube by using the grid as the overall structure while the organic form weaves in and out of the grid, creating moments of ramps and caves for both the visitors and penguins.
