Tony McGrail is a project designer with more than four years of professional experience in the practice of architecture. Renovations, capital maintenance, master planning, healthcare, as well as other work in institutional, civic and commercial sectors of construction, Tony enjoys participating in all phases of project types whether it be pre-design and feasibility studies, design development and construction documents, all the way through to construction administration and post occupancy.
Since graduating in 2010, Tony has worked in firms with very different projects and goals, of varying sizes, possessing both large and small budgets. This experience has been beneficial in that it has instilled a flexibility in his design approach and methodology coupled with an ability to look for any opportunity for design to have the largest impact. Tony strives to achieve a pragmatic and progressive design, while at the same time putting client and user satisfaction in the highest regard.
Subscribing to the notion that architects have exactly the right balance of training and education to help aid their communities and regions in building toward a brighter future, Tony welcomes any opportunity to participate in both civic and professional organizations and thus is active in both the local and state component of the American Institute of Architects and has recently been named a Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for the City of Columbia.
Having lived in cities ranging in population from forty thousand to two million, observing the lifestyles of different people and cultures, Tony believes a city's environment and its architecture shape the nature of how people create their niches and how they view the world around them. It's through the study and dissection of the systems involved that Tony hopes to positively influence, collaborating with others, a future inclusive and beneficial to all.
