Tom Wakeman

Architectural Designer. MSc, MArch.

Tom has worked for the past 10 years at a number of award-winning architects in the UK and US, and set up Studio 8 Architecture in July 2021. Tom attained his Masters degree in Architecture at The Welsh School of Architecture.

He takes a thoroughly Modernist approach to design, creating beautiful, functional spaces with a passion for materials, simplicity and refined detail. Having travelled extensively across Europe including Scandinavia, Barcelona and Italy and across the US, he brings international perspectives and outlooks to design within the constraints of our UK climate.

With a breadth of practical experience working on period properties, he has a vast knowledge of the intricacies of historic building practices, and the best ways of updating and improving their performance sympathetically. He is also adept in the fields of low-energy retrofit and systems, modern construction methods and home automation.

In his spare time, he loves to get out in the garden and hike the Welsh countryside.
