The house is located in Brooklyn, NY on a small tree lined street. Most recently it was broken up into five small apartments. The renovation required removal of all but the front facade and the upper portion of the rear facade, leaving essentially a floorless open three-story box. The first floor of the new renovation contains a kitchen/dining room. The walls and ceiling are paneled in birch plywood. The space then opens up to a double-height living room with a 16’ high steel and glass window wall looking into an enclosed garden. The second floor contains a library that is open and looks down onto the living room. It also contains a media room and two children’s bedrooms. The center portion of the third floor is an exterior garden courtyard surrounded on three sides by steel and glass window walls. Facing the courtyard are the master bedroom, dressing room, and two small offices. An open, curved, skylit stair connects all three floors.
