About

Employment

HLW International, New York, NY, US, Architectural Intern

My experiences at HLW allowed me to grow many aspects of my understanding of architecture. I was fortunate enough to be able to work on a variety of different projects throughout my internship and I gained an array of skills that I will always carry with me. I developed my skills in Revit, as I spent my days learning how to produce detailed drawings and generating/building models during the design process. I also enhanced my rendering skills as I learned Enscape and how to map materials in Revit to create high-quality graphics. I gained an understanding of how to specify furniture and work more closely on interior finishes and details. Being apart of many different project teams in the Base Building and Interior Studios allowed me to see different perspectives of architecture at different scales.

Turner Construction Company, Somerset, NJ, US, Intern

During my time at Turner Construction Company, as an intern at the Princeton University Arts and Transit Project, I feel I gained useful experience that I will carry with me in my professional career. Being the only intern from an architectural background, I was able to view another perspective in the field of construction. I developed strong communications skills as I was always reporting to senior staff, the client, and our subcontractors. Being able to see all of the building systems integrated into the finished product provided me with a better understanding of how I can incorporate my technical systems to not only enhance the lives of the users, but my design as a whole. I helped manage day-to-day operations by tracking manpower, answering RFIs, checking the specifications (to ensure the correct products and finishes were used), responding to punch list items, and working on project submittals. Experiencing a project after the design is complete gave me a lot of insight on how I can make things easier/better in the end just by making sure I am careful, precise, and have a complete understanding of how the building operates. Seeing a building progress and begin to emerge into this beautiful space is truly amazing.
