downtown los angeles transit hub
Through the investigation of existing surface parking lots in downtown Los Angeles, this degree project addresses Los Angeles as a city currently infiltrated by “grey goo” embodied by asphalt parking lots. Los Angeles is a city both car oriented and dense. Its human density, however, is diluted by the parking supply of a suburb. With many of these lots empty and unused during nonpeak hours, the project proposal argues for a recapturing of the parking lot through pocket parks, urban gardens, and a new farmers market typology for the traditional parking structure that utilizes Metro to revitalize it.
