Emad Hasan & Jonathan Hoyle Promoted to Associate Principal at The Lighting Practice

The Lighting Practice, a national women-owned firm with offices in Philadelphia and New York, is looking to the future. We are proud to announce the promotion of Emad Hasan, Associate IALD, LEED AP BD+C, and Jonathan Hoyle to Associate Principal.

Emad joined The Lighting Practice in 2005 and was promoted to Associate in 2015. His broad range of experience encompasses lighting for education, corporate, healthcare, hospitality, historic and urban environments in addition to exterior façades. Emad was recognized by Lighting Magazine for his leadership in lighting design as a 40under40 class of 2017. He is also an active member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and Urban Land Institute (ULI).

“The lighting industry is moving to the forefront of design and technology, from the ongoing research of light’s impact of health and wellness to its use as a platform for building connectivity,” Emad said. “I look forward to our continued involvement in the industry and The Lighting Practice’s growth as we expand into new markets, improve our analyzation methods, and mentor the next generation of lighting designers.”

Jon joined The Lighting Practice in 2008 and was promoted to Associate in 2015. He has been instrumental in the firm’s 2018 expansion to New York and its growth there since. During his career with TLP, Jon has designed lighting for projects in a variety of market sectors including corporate, education, hospitality and historic environments as well as landscape and exterior facades. He is an active member of Metropolitan Railway Club of New York.

“I’m excited to be a firm leader at a time when the lighting industry is in evolution. New, exciting opportunities include the continuing influence of the LED on luminaire design, changes in energy codes that require our lighting designs to use less power, and new visualization tools in the design phase to accurately preview the effect of lighting on users,” Jon said. “As industry leaders, we look forward to utilizing these technologies and design strategies as they move out of their nascent stages.”

For more than a decade, both Emad and Jon have demonstrated their dedication to The Lighting Practice, its growth and projects, and to influence the lighting industry.

“We are excited to have Jon and Emad join The Lighting Practice’s ownership team and to help build the next generation of leadership at our firm,” said Helen Diemer, President of The Lighting Practice. “It has been a pleasure to watch them grow from entry-level lighting designers to leaders here at TLP. They have made significant contributions to both the development of our team and the growth of our firm. We look forward to working with them to set the course for TLP’s next chapter.”

As Associate Principals, Emad Hasan and Jonathan Hoyle join The Lighting Practice’s dynamic team of leaders: Helen Diemer, FIALD, LEED AP, Alfred Borden, FIALD, CLD, Michael Barber, Assoc. IALD, LEED AP BD+C, and Jered Widmer, IALD, MIES. The Lighting Practice team is looking forward to years of continued success supporting our clients and design partners.
