Michael Barber, Associate IALD, LEED AP BD+C, Principal with The Lighting Practice, will be presenting Essentials of Natural Lighting Design at AIA Procrastinator’s Pro Con 2017. The event will be held on November 30, 2017 at the Center for Architecture and Design in Philadelphia.

Understanding the benefits of natural lighting design is important for professionals from all backgrounds in the A/E/C industry. While computer software calculations and simulations have become the norm; natural light is based on eons-old patterns of movement.  The presentation will cover a variety of topics related to the application of natural light in the built environment, starting with a brief historical perspective, concluding with modern code and sustainable design requirements. During his presentation, Mike will explain interior design techniques that balance and optimize natural light as well as current code criteria and sustainable design guidelines.
