Mechanical Love is a bench almost entirely built of reclaimed parts. It’s skeleton is built of leaf springs from truck suspension systems. These leaf springs, though used for something quite unlike a truck, are still invited to fulfill their original purpose - to maintain structure and to bounce. The wooden seat exists a bit out of it’s element as well, having begun life as a studio desk top. Though it served to support the creative processes of a designer once drawn and dreamt upon it’s surface, the wood now holds the position of a crucial element within an executed design and serves to support the designer in a slightly different way. The nuts and bolts, however, simply looked awfully sad sitting in the hardware store and thus out of sympathy we brought them home, drilled some holes for them to live in and made them a part of the family.
