Strong program and project management professional with a MSc focused in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University.

Savvas Sarafidis (1973, Athens) is a designer with a broad interest in planning and environmental issues but also the visual arts and music. In 2003, he founded ss.mm design with Melpi Magklivera and as lead architect of the firm in Athens, he specialized in the design and construction management of private residences, apartment and mixed-use buildings of varying sizes and budgets, which uniquely reflect both the identity and cultural character of the client and the local environment, while maintaining energy efficiency and keeping with construction costs. His personal academic work and his ss.mm work have been published at various Greek and international print and digital media and have been presented at festivals and exhibitions. He has been invited as a guest critic and guest lecturer at various academic institutions in Greece and abroad.

Since 2016, he has been working again in New York sharing his experience, international presence and extensive background in the field of design and management of construction projects. He’s demonstrated expertise in design development, construction documentation, material specification, and on-site construction supervision, as well as cutting-edge expertise in managing high-profile, commercial and residential building projects. He possesses strong capabilities in applying 3D modelling techniques to the design process, a passion for design development strategies and the use of space. His freehand sketches are very much expressive and detailed at the same time.

Creative direction leader. Oversaw the branding of the firm through the exterior re-design of several new ground-up residential developments in the Bronx. Oversaw numerous fit-out and interior design projects for commercial office spaces and established general design guidelines for the firm. Led owner’s rep services.

Medium size waterfront private residence with pool, in 3 levels, 6.500 sf total area. Broken house in several different volumes with each expressing its programmatic function. The living spaces were pdeveloped around a main central axis that visually connects the public street to the private beach. Vertical
connections were developed: physical connections (stairhall) but also visual (skylights).

PEnergy Efficient & Clever Residence, Paiania, Greece
“Green” private residence with heating and cooling pipe system in concrete and masonry elements of architecture, rendering them invisible. “Clever” home systems of automation were introduced, controlling the mechanical and
electrical functionality of the house.
